Char Dham Helicopter Yatra 2026

All Four Dhams,
One Sacred Journey

The Char Dham Yatra — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — is considered the most complete pilgrimage circuit in Hinduism. Traditionally undertaken over 2–3 weeks by road, the helicopter package compresses this sacred journey into 5 days without diminishing its spiritual significance.

Helicopter services connect Dehradun to helipads near each shrine, eliminating the long mountain drives and the 6 km trek to Yamunotri and 16 km trek to Kedarnath. This makes the complete Char Dham circuit genuinely achievable for elderly pilgrims, those with limited time, and families seeking a comfortable yet deeply spiritual experience.

๐Ÿ›•

Yamunotri — Source of the Yamuna

Seek the blessings of Goddess Yamuna at the westernmost of the four dhams, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at 3,293 metres.

๐ŸŒŠ

Gangotri — Origin of the Holy Ganga

Visit the temple of Goddess Ganga at Gangotri, where the sacred river is believed to have descended to earth, at an altitude of 3,100 metres.

๐Ÿ™

Kedarnath & Badrinath — Shiva & Vishnu

Complete the circuit with darshan at the Kedarnath Jyotirlinga and the Badrinath Vishnu temple — the spiritual heart of the entire yatra.

The Sacred Circuit Explained

01

Yamunotri — Goddess Yamuna

The westernmost dham, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Located at 3,293 metres in the Uttarkashi district, the temple is the source of the Yamuna river. The Surya Kund hot spring here is used by pilgrims to cook rice as prasad.

02

Gangotri — Goddess Ganga

Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, this temple at 3,100 metres marks the spot where the sacred river is believed to have descended to earth. The Bhagirathi river flows past the temple, and the actual source — Gaumukh glacier — is 19 km further.

03

Kedarnath — Lord Shiva

One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath at 3,583 metres is the most dramatic of the four dhams. The ancient stone temple, believed to be built by the Pandavas, stands against the backdrop of the Kedarnath peak and Chorabari glacier.

04

Badrinath — Lord Vishnu

The easternmost and most visited dham, Badrinath at 3,133 metres is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badrinarayan). The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams and is flanked by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges with the Neelkanth peak as backdrop.

05

Why Helicopter?

The traditional Char Dham Yatra by road takes 12–18 days and involves significant physical exertion including the Yamunotri and Kedarnath treks. The helicopter option makes the complete circuit achievable in 5 days for pilgrims of all ages and fitness levels.

06

Best Time to Visit

The Char Dham temples open in late April or early May (on auspicious dates) and close in October or November for winter. The best time for the helicopter yatra is May–June and September–October, avoiding the peak monsoon months of July–August.
